Notary Public Services

We have two full-time agents on staff, Notary Fees are consistent with PA state requirements, and we do not charge excessive fees for "clerical services" or support services. If additional support services are needed, we may charge additional fees that are reasonable for our area.
Listed below is the fee chart for Pennsylvania Notary Services*.
Notary Public Agents are also allowed to charge a fee for additional clerical and support services, within reason. Always ask for a breakout of the fees being charged so you will know what you're paying for. Keep in mind the total number of notary sections, witnesses, and additional services will determine the final cost.
For the typical notary requirement (1) on a form, or small document set, our office charges the state required notary fees. Additional signers, witnesses, services for clerical work, copies, fax, etc., are fees that may be included in the total for the work that's specific to your transaction.
If you have one form, requiring one notary seal, it's probably going to be the standard fee. We've had customers stop by recently, that were charged $30, $50 and more, for a single notary requirement scenario. In our opinion, it's excessive additonal fees that were added for possible clerical and support services.
As a business, and a notary agent, our time is valuable. Most customers don't know the work that's involved beyond just our stamp, and we understand why others may charge a greater fee - just not the excessive fees that we've seen recently. Multiple signers, or larger document sets, may have multiple notary fees, and may have additional fees for clerical and support services. You should always ask questions, and know what the fee breakdown is estimated to be (before signing and providing the forms). Don't be afraid to tell them thank you, and walk out if it seems excessive. You can check with other agents to compare fees.
Due to the rural nature of our area, notary public agents can be challenging to locate. Most banks no longer notarize documents that are not specific to their banking work. Mobile Notary services can be difficult to locate and usually charge for travel time, and other clerical/support services, but this type of mobile service can be invaluable for certain situations. Use caution with roaming notary agents that don't follow the regulations that apply to a notary transaction.
Tunlar Agency is open 6 days a week and we provide Notary Services on a walk-in basis, or by scheduled appointment if you have a large document set with multiple signers and witnesses, or if you need mobile notary services.

These clerical or administrative fees are not set by the Department. Such clerical or administrative fees must be customary and reasonable for the geographic area and for the service rendered.
